Leanne is a dedicated and devoted yoga student. After spending the majority of her life practicing gymnastics she transitioned into yoga upon entering college. She's been practicing yoga for over 10 years. She completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training in Denver Colorado at CorePower yoga and currently resides in Bend, Oregon with her husband and two cats. She is also certified in kids yoga as well as yoga Nidra. She loves snowboarding, hiking, biking, meditation, camping and music. Yoga has taught her patience, compassion, humility and self love and she loves being able to share these gifts with others. In addition to fitness, Leanne is also a strong believer in health. In order for our bodies to perform as intended, we need to fuel them with as many fruits and veggies as possible, the way nature intended.
My Journey to a Meditation Practice
Journey to Meditation
My journey to meditation has been anything but linear. In fact, it's been quite the opposite. If you have ever given birth, (or seen it in a movie) imagine that sheet of paper that prints out observing your contractions. It's like SO zig zagged, backwards and forwards and upside down. That has been my journey to meditation. I have days where I sit for 25+ minutes, just being with myself and I have days where I meditate for a minute or two, simply to calm my anxiety. Every day is different, that's why it is called a meditation practice, not a meditation perfect!
I found meditation about 5 years ago around the time I started teaching yoga . After much mental resistance telling myself that there is no way I could sit in stillness with my thoughts, I decided to give it a try. The first few times I did it, it was really hard and I found myself peaking one eye open to look at the timer only to realize it had only been 12 seconds. 12 seconds. What a failure I thought. But you know what 12 seconds is enough time to take a breath or two. It's truly amazing what a deep, intentional breath can do for you. I closed my eyes and continued, with each deep breathe out, I watched as my shoulders relaxed, and my anxiety eased. And now I want to share the gift of meditation with you!
"I really enjoyed the teacher student interaction in this class. Leanne took the time to see what area of our bodies needed work and she in return did a great job of incorporating moves and poses for those areas, and the music selection was top notch!"
"You are the beautiful soul, thank you for providing an event that sates the anxious, and calms the windings from the work week. I love what you do and who you are."
"Leanne provided yoga for our 1st "Yogis in Paradise" rafting/yoga trip on the Wild and Scenic Rogue River and I was beyond impressed with the results! Leanne is genuine, caring, fun, and creative. The message that she brings to each class is calming and empowering and she is mindful in adjusting each class to meet the needs of her students. My favorite part was her ability to "strike a pose" at any given time, whether in an open field, balancing on the edge of a boat, or on a rocky ledge in front of an amazing waterfall. Thank you Leanne for an amazing trip! I'm looking forward to next year!"
"Yoga is like music: the rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind, and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life."
